ALANA HADID

Alana Hadid was born in Mclean, Virginia. Studied political science at the University of Arizona and received her masters in international relations at Bond university. She and a partner founded “Better Bacon” a for-profit graphic T-shirt company after meeting the students at Widney High, a school for the mentally and physically disabled, and seeing their amazing art potential. The kids of Widney High did all the artwork for the shirts and they were paid for their work, giving them jobs and praise for their talent. After one season, Better Bacon was in stores in 35 states and 13 countries. This sparked Alana’s interest in fashion. She has since done multiple clothing collaborations and founded Hadid Eyewear a family brand in 2017 and La Detresse her own denim company in the same year. Throughout the years Alana has worked with several charitable organizations. Alana has worked with Food & Friends, a charity that feeds homebound AIDS patients, since childhood. She was an assistant teacher for a 4th-grade class at the Harriet Tubman Middle School every Wednesday in S.E D.C during her sophomore year at the Madeira school in Virginia. Pre-pandemic she worked for a DC-based charity, Knockout Abuse, helping with their yearly Gala, which has become one of the most attended DC charity fundraisers. She sat on the junior board and has contributed tens of thousands in Auction items throughout the years. She most recently sat on the board of Make-A-Wish greater Los Angeles and co-chaired their yearly gala for 3 years. Alana works with local organizations regularly like WATER DROP LA, helping with the water instability in the unhoused community of Skid Row. Alana is active in the LA community with a young, vibrant and charitable social circle.
